An exceptional pair of 18ct and earrings with pearl embellishment, featuring En Grisaille enamel on rare pink ground. Ever so challenging to find, enamel earrings from this era are coveted for their often classical subject matter in pastoral settings-- and this pair is no exception. Two figures in the Watteau manner of bucolic lounging are shown; one throwing it back surreptitiously, the other, forearm deep in a bag of chips (truly I do not know what the actions depicted are, but I've chosen to see it as such.) Pearl halos around the central panels, the bottom drops come off and the tops can be worn alone.
This pair of earrings is mint in the box.
Materials and Features: 18ct gold, in pink ground painted enamel, mother of pearl reverse
Age/Origin: French, Napoleon III 1860
Measurements: 1.35”, 1.6g each
Condition: Very good historical condition- there is some wear to the edges of the central panels, mint in an antique box!
Please view and inspect any photos closely. We endeavor to fully disclose all condition information clearly and concisely, however, please note that what qualifies as excellent condition for historical jewelry differs from modern and contemporary pieces; please take the age of the piece into account when examining the piece. Minor age wear is typical and to be expected for antique and vintage jewelry.
