A rare English pendant in 18ct yellow gold with a silver top sparkles with twinkling rose-cut diamonds surrounding a luminous mother-of-pearl center. On the reverse, one finds a glass locket back, still containing its original woven hair—an intimate memento preserved for well over a century.
The lavish bow motif is in keeping with the fashions set by Queen Alexandra of Denmark, consort to King Edward VII, who helped define the taste of the Edwardian court. Sold by the distinguished London jeweler Frazer & Haws (From Garrards) of 31 Regent Street, Piccadilly underscores the refinement that made English jewelers of the period so highly prized.
Ingeniously designed, the pendant detaches from the bow, allowing the two to be worn together or separately, on a ribbon or on a chain. A piece of both sentiment and style, it would have been a jewel of distinction among its original owners peerage, and remains timeless today.
