A wonderful pair of hand engraved 14ct opal earrings. This pair distills many of the finest elements of mid Victorian aestheticism through a lens that only retrospection can. Made in the 1960’s-70’s, looking back at the 1860’s & 70’s, these vintage beauties reach for Victorian fretwork in the appliqué at the face, centered around a glowing opal set in a star inset. This was a common setting for English Victorian rings (in the Archaeolgical revival period), and is further accented by the ‘orientalist’ paisley etching, and the geometric drop down ball. A stellar pair of earrings that truly performs the 1860’s greatest hits!
