It is not every day that we have the pleasure of finding a rare heraldic jewel-- and I will admit I've been lazy to list this exceptional Victorian find for her rarity and outstanding symbolism.

Featured here, a gorgeous third quarter of the 19th c brooch in 15ct gold decorated with opaline glass, a halo of wondrous pearls, and the heraldic British Naval Crown, rendered in diamonds, pearls, and gold. Seated on the purest opaline blue of a morning sky at sea, with radiating convex sun rays in the gold plate that peeks through the translucence of the glass, this brooch strikes a sense of awe in the viewer, uncommon and truly remarkable. The image appendix of this item includes a coin featuring Marcus Agrippa wearing a Roman Naval crown, and an engraving of the British Naval Crown.

The symbolism of the sea is underscored by both the use of pearls, and the navette shape of the object, which is based on the french word for little boat.

Materials: 15ct gold, 40 halo'd pearls, three sizable pearls set into the crown, .30ctw diamonds

Age/Origin: Circa 1870, English

Weighs: 10.7g

Size: 1.5" in length

Marks: None visible

Condition: Excellent for her age. As with most Victorian jewels, there is minor wear including the smallest flake to the bottom left of the navette of glass Overall, very good.
