An extraordinary Swedish amethyst rivière of the 1830s, fully hallmarked and of a quality comparable to the court jewels of its era — which is not a casual observation.
The necklace is strikingly similar to the jewels depicted in the Swedish court portrait of Elisabeth Petronella (Pella) Warodell, painted circa 1834 — we have included the portrait as reference, and the resemblance is immediate. The gold work is hollow construction, a hallmark of the finest Scandinavian jewellery of this period: it renders the piece wearable and lively rather than heavy, with a movement that flat construction simply cannot achieve. The amethysts total 62.79 carats across seven stones, individually hallmarked and perfectly graduated. The maker's mark IFS and Swedish Triple Crown for 18ct confirm both origin and gold quality without question. At 15.5 inches and 33.18 grams, this is a rivière of genuine grandeur.
