Sweet and petite! This rare Archaeological Revival Roman fibula brooch is a simply darling little treasure. Crafted circa 1860, this brooch displays fine mid-19th century craftspersonship, with delicate caning at the center bend, and elegant engraved detail along the 15 ct gold surface.  

Fibula brooches of this style emerged during the height of the Roman Empire and were often symbols of status. High-ranking officials often used them to fasten their imperial clothes. During the Victorian Era, Fibulae brooches experienced a heightened popularity, becoming en vogue as a favored adornment to fasten blouses, shawls, and coats.

With its understated elegance and simple sophistication, this brooch is  a lovely addition to any connoisseur’s collection!
