The bypass ring became popular during the Victorian era. This style was given as an engagement ring, symbolizing two souls coming together as one. Traditionally, the popularity of two different colored stones during that era added to the symbolization of union and togetherness.
Also called a crossover ring, a bypass ring is one where the band coils around the finger and the ends do not meet to form a closed circle. The ends of the coiled band then pass each other on the top of the ring.
This gorgeous example is showered in diamonds, featuring two prong-set, chunky, European-cut diamond clovers accompanied by old-cut diamonds, totaling 1.74cts of diamonds! Clovers were thought to bring on good fortune, success, prosperity, karma, and well wishes to their possessor, and, obviously, double the clover, double the fortune.
