The German shepherd, one of the rarest dogs to find, adds a new complexity to the classic symbolism of canine loyalty, here shown as a protector with a loving but weary demeanor. Hand painted under a massive crystal dome, this Essex crystal example comes to life with a hearty three dimensional rendering.
The first known German Shepherd, Hrand von Grafrath, was born in 1894, and the breed quickly swelled to popularity as both pet and working animal. This cufflink likely dates to the 1920’s when hunting and animal jewels were rudimentary equipage to the modern wardrobe.
