A rare small-scale French rose cut diamond crescent brooch of the Napoleon III period — a magical 'Lune de Miel' brooch to celebrate the honeymoon of anything magical in your life.
The crescent is set in beautifully polished sterling silver over a fine 18ct pink gold gallery — a textbook example of the Empress Eugénie era — with .87 carats of rose cut diamonds, with the exception of one original Old European cut stone that sits among them making a quietly interesting contrast in both cut and character. Very white stones for the age, with some I1 inclusions are present, as expected in rose cuts of this period, but the overall condition is quite outstanding; the silver is evenly polished and bright throughout. Fully hallmarked with the French eagle head on the pin. At 1.25 inches diameter and 7.07 grams, it is the perfect scale for everyday wear or layering.
