An incredible m miniature seed pearl necklace Circa 1840-1850. This outrageous “wedding work” or “wedding pearl” rope necklace created a stunning spiral of interlocked strands of pearls on the original silk strands that have held them together since their original stringing. We had the unbelievable luck to find two of these at once- this is the longer of the pair- it is impossible to find jewels like this and we feel truly blessed to have come across it!
As we understand that the process of culturing pearls dates to the end of the 19th century (with Mikimoto’s invention in 1893) this rare necklace is composed of thousands of pearls that interlock in this manner.
A perfect neutral, this outstanding necklace will be a landmark addition to any collection.
