Pointed at both ends with equally curved sides, the term navette often refers to a curved gemstone- rumored to have been based on the shape of the Marquise De Pompadour's lips, the Marquise/Navette shape was extremely popular in the 19th c.
This wonderful english example, however, takes a lovely twist on that shape using it to present a heavily gothic cross. Circa 1865, this wonderful ring has the most beautiful stylization featuring enameled shoulders and pearls that create the lustrous cross. Fully English hallmarked, the only one missing is the assay office origin. A very special ring, in very good condition.
