The likeness of Raphael’s Sistine pensive angels has been made a symbol of many emotions, stages, and thoughts since its creation in the early 16th century. Part of the larger Sistine Madonna, the nearly comical inclusion of angels suffering a spot of ennuie has continued to be a relatable depiction of the human condition. Beloved, especially in the 19th century, I was very excited to find this cameo as a stick pin, we converted her to a ring with a casting of an English band featuring a morning glory motif.
As the pensive angel was frequently a memorial symbol to those who’d recently lost a loved one, the morning glory band seemed the perfect fit.
