Hand-painted miniature portrait jewels have become a true relic of a bygone era. In an age when no other means of preserving a likeness was available, the hand done likeness was a treasure and a legacy passed from generation to generation. Painting surfaces for these miniature works of art varied from porcelain and celluloid to organic materials. Some portrait miniatures were done of famous "beauties" of the era, others were of classic style beauties rather than a particular real person. I have a particular fondness for miniatures of children, and if I am lucky enough to be a mother one day, I certainly will want to capture the likeness of my lineage in this indelible manner!

Converted from an earring, this little Victorian beauty is just brimming with vitality and charm!  Set in 14 karat yellow gold, framed in blue enamel, punctuated with natural seed pearls, and paired with an antique replica shank, the hand painted porcelain scene is absolutely charming! A  golden-haired child is holding a lavish array of bright, beautiful fruit. With a garland of flowers in her hair, and a yellow bird alit upon her shoulder, she is a colorful treasure sure to become a favorite in your collection!
