A striking mid-century cluster ring centered on a vivid ruby of approximately 2.63 carats, surrounded by diamonds and additional rubies, earning this treasure the title of a “Snowflake Ring.” The composition is bold but controlled, with the central stone delivering a concentrated raspberry jam color against the crisp, very white contrast of the surrounding diamonds. With a depth of 5mm, it is no wonder that this ruby contains multitudes!
This snowflake was created within the context of the same visual vernacular favored by the great houses of the period: the ruby and diamond combinations championed by Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier, and immortalized in the celebrated ruby jewels gifted to Grace Kelly. Notably the Van Cleef tiara she received at the moment of her wedding from the Societe des Bains de Mere, hence the name the “Bains de Mere” tiara; the color quality of the rubies in this ring are just the same, glowing nearly neon in some light.
