Lavaliers are believed to have been named after the Duchess Louise de La Vallière, the mistress of French King Louis XIV in the mid 17th Century. The term “lavalier” refers to a necklace or pendant that finishes in a single stone dangling from the base, often a pearl or diamond. In pendant form, the lavalier often has delicate work, sometimes with feminine and floral motifs.

Lavaliers were simple yer elegant, dancing with the movement of the wearer. This beautiful example features not one, but two dangling pearls and accents from a center circle that is detailed with enamel. Additionally, we witness a small diamond in a buttercup setting. Paired perfectly with a 13" barrel clasp chain, this is the deal of the century!
