Styles were dramatic and ornate during the Georgian period, thanks partly to intricate metalwork techniques such as cannetille (a method of working the gold wire to make it look woven), as we can see in this special pendant. This metalworking technique, very popular in the 1820s and 30s, involved intricate wirework designs. Cannetille resembles embroidery-inspired filigree.

English, circa 1830, this beautiful late Georgian example is from the Regency period. Wonderful hand-finished gold work.
