Delightful and darling!

Crafted in the 1960’s in 9 carat gold, this English ring is a fine Victorian Revival Example. The tradition of specimen setting was revived in the 1960’s, along with many other Victorian traditions. It was especially popular in the UK and indeed, this ring bears London Hallmarks of the era.

Coin jewelry is one of the oldest designs, having been worn across the world since ancient times. The earliest known coin rings were made from gold and silver coins, and – like this ring – often depicted heroic vignettes taken from myth and religion.

Coin rings were also used as a way to show off wealth and status, and to protect oneself from any evil hearts or deeds.

This particular ring is well crafted, with a stunning vignette depicting St. George slaying the Dragon. A wonderful addition to any antique jewelry or art history collection!
