A beautiful one-of-a-kind treasure!

Essex Crystals are among the most beautiful decorative jewelry designs. The name “essex crystal” refers to a very specific form of glyptography called a reverse intaglio. This means that instead of having the top of the stone carved, the intaglio is carved into the flat back. The effect is often a dreamy, iridescent jewel that holds astonishing depth.

This gorgeous Essex Crystal bracelet is a wonderful example of a reverse intaglio design. Crafted circa 1860, this bracelet features a lovely 14 carat gold body and 9 carat gold settings for the Essex crystals.

Just look at those colors! Pale blue and white intermingle together in a dreamy array, creating the most romantic and whimsical silhouette. These particular Essex Crystals are extremely uncommon, as it is likely they were once actually buttons! The cabochons depict 3 sets of  (BM, FG, LL) in an original matched set with the dreamiest pastel palate. The letters might have originally spelled a sentimental term, or depicted a close endearment.

Adding onto the sentimentality are the locks of hair encased in each cabochon! With their delicate swirls, the hair locks only further emphasize the intimacy between the wearer and the giver!

Between the magnificent artistry and sweet romantic allure, this bracelet is a wonderful treasure for any art history lover or antique connoisseur alike!
