You have never seen one like this before — and we mean that entirely. A 15ct English Aestheticism necklace of the 1870s featuring an enchanted amethyst orb and suspended amethyst heart, neither of which is a cabochon. Both stones are rendered fully in the round.
The orb is a humongous 23.5mm in diameter. The heart drop measures 23mm × 16mm. Together they are estimated at 34 carats for the pair — an extraordinary weight in stones of this unusual form. What elevates them further is the delicate pearl inlay that seems to anoint these amethysts with gifts of the sea upon treasures of the earth — exceptional pearl work, entirely typical of the finest English Aestheticism from this period, and entirely exceptional in its execution here. At 43g and 17.5 inches, this necklace is all 15ct gold throughout, and entirely unforgettable.
