Etruscan revival jewelry was modeled after the ancient Roman empire, specifically the Etruscan civilization of ancient Italy in Tuscany, Western Umbria, and northern Lazio (700-300 BC). 

The interest in Etruscan revival jewelry began during the 18th-century Georgian period when the ruins of Pompeii (1748) and Herculaneum (1738) were discovered. Yet, the actual Etruscan revival pieces were not created until a century later when jewelry-making techniques had become sophisticated. Many Etruscan revival pieces date to the 1860s to 1880s, yet the architecture and ancient findings stimulated jewelry makers' minds around the world. 

Like the moon it’s been associated with for millennia, silver reflects the light that plays on its surface, treating the eye to shades of grays that range from smoldering and smokey to brilliant and brassy. Circa 1870, this gorgeous set features a wonderful, geometric Etruscan revival detail in a medium-large scale with beautiful texturing.
