This 19th century intaglio ring is a rare treasure; indeed, not only for its beautiful construction, but its rich symbolism. Italian in origin, this ring is hand-crafted in a stunning 18 carat gold – but the star of the show is this glorious ancient hand-banded agate, upon which we can see the intaglio of a boar.  

This is a fascinating detail indeed, as the boar is historically indicated as a warrior in ancient art. The fine detailing along the gold is also notably Etruscan in flavor, speaking broadly to this ring being a 19th century Roman Archaeological Revival piece.

Also notable is the fact that this ring is a Vatican Workshop offering. The studio was renowned for its work in the 19th century, often focusing on mosaic or micromosaic jewelry. The agate on this ring is rarer than other examples of their, for it boasts this creamy and vibrant dulce de lece color.
