Crafted circa 1870 in a beautiful carved coral, this is extremely rare brooch depicts an aquatic themed cupid – complete with a scaled tail and clam-like seashell – riding a dolphin. This coral jewel is a sumptuous miniature with an eye toward the ancient world. Its incredible craftwork celebrates the carving and color designs of ancient Greece, and is a wonderful example of the Roman Revival movement of the 1870’s.
A perfect addition to any antique jewelry or art history collection!
